Career
Calling in to audition at Yuk Yuk’s amateur night, Ben accidentally had his name entered in a competition. Ben stepped onto the stage for the first time, facing off against 12 other comedians both amateur and experienced, and ended up being awarded first place and moved on to the city championships. To further hone his comedic skills, Ben began studying with the Second City Improv Troupe.
Shortly thereafter, Ben won the Just For Laughs Home-Grown Competition, a contest where the best of the up-and-coming comedians from each of the major Canadian cities were selected to perform for the top prize. Ben once again was asked to enter a competition in Hamilton with eight other comedians – and again won the night! He then moved on to showcase at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
Headline Act
Ben’s television credits include being featured on the Toronto Show and being the subject of a TV documentary ‘The Changing Faces of Comedy’ on rising comedians. He has performed at the New York IMPROV in New York City. Other memorable performances include a set for The Most Races Show On Earth at the Panasonic Theatre. Along with being featured in the Just For Laughs Festival, Ben also performed at the St. John Comedy Festival and was part of the Gala at the Sudbury Comedy Festival.
Recently, Ben was featured on CBC’s Accent on Toronto. He has also headlined The South Asian Comedy Showcase at the Toronto Film Festival’s Isabelle Bader Theatre. Another highlight was in Ottawa where he headlined a sold out 800-person crowd for the Festival of India. Most recently, Ben was a finalist in the Brantford Comedy Festival.
